| Born in Russia, Annastasia Victory Kuporosova has attended several music programs, including Juilliard School of Music, LaGuardia School of Performing Arts, Lucy Moses School of Music, Moscow Music Conservatory of Tchaickovsky, and most recently The School of Sound and Audio Engineering (SAE), where she got her diploma in recording arts.
Annastasia was nominated as a top finalist in The Markievicz Gold Medal Composition Competition in Ireland for her musical composition based on the poem “Curse The Rainbow” by Jackeling M. Loring written in remembrance of the veterans of the Vietnam War from both sides of the battle field. Annastaisa wrote the piece for Voice, Violin and Piano.
She also wrote the musical score for an off Broadway play called “Honey Bee Tales” based on the book and lyrics by Adelma Guillespie Park. The play is a comedy based on a true story about pollution and love. The cast had numerous performances and also recorded a CD of the music.
Aside from writing musical compositions, Annastasia is also the front woman for a Pop / Rock / Reggae band called AnaVanA, in which she shares leadership duties with songwriter, guitar player and manager Ian C. Bouras. The band signed a licensing agreement with an independent record company in Australia called Zip Records, after which they released their debut album.
Since then the band has been featured in magazines including: “Cool” a Japanese Art and culture magazine which featured AnaVanA on a full color 4 page feature in the month of June; “Amplifier” magazine, “Gorgeous” a Russian art and culture magazine where Annastasia and Ian were featured as a duo; and Global Rhythm a world music magazine where the band was featured on the compilation Cd that accompanies the magazine.
In November ’04 the band performed on an East Coast Tour where they played in clubs and music venues in Raleigh N. Carolina, and many more cities working they way to Florida where AnaVanA performed in a Connextion Festival to raise funds for the devastation caused by Hurricane Ivan.
The songs of AnaVanA are co-written by Annastasia and Ian, and they have done well in many songwriting competitions including: Finalists in Windrift International Songwriting Competition, “Colors Fading” placed in the top 5 Song of the Year Competition. They were also nominated as amongst the top songwriters in The Billboard Songwriting Competition for 2003 and 2004.
Aside from all the musical genres that Annastasia has accomplished, her favorite is still classical. While studying in Juilliard, Annastasia mastered the art of orchestration. While at Juilliard she scored orchestral pieces which were recorded by Juilliard’s orchestra directed by Nathan Curier her teacher at that time. She has also studied with Vincent LaSelva, the legendary conductor who still performs every year at the Central Park Summer Stage concerts.
Annastasia continues to teach, write and perform during her busy schedule as musical director position for NYC churches, and public schools of New York City which she has been doing for the past five years.
Currently Annastasia is working on finishing her instructional book on how to learn music theory and playing piano for beginners.
